Drilling in ANWAR will produce some badly needed oil and reduce our dependence on other oil-producing nations, some of which are not all that friendly towards us. There is no reason to believe that drilling in ANWAR will cause any significant harm to the environment, because of the way it is planned (angle drilling) and the fact that previous Alaskan production has been fairly benign, considering the vast amount of oil that has been produced for so many years.
