Having no grasp of scientific reasoning or the process of learning things through experimentation, they had to designate a god for each and every thing.
Fire? Fire god.
Rain? Rain god.
Lightning? You guessed it, lightning god.
The ideas of monotheism weren't even discovered until relatively recently in human history.

they had big inagintaion, and besides, one god isn't fun
in Greek mythology if there was only one god, there would be less action and excitement.
Early people first believed that a god had certain powers, one would control the sea, another the land, etc. i'm guessing that as each group of people contacted with each other, they exchanged ideas, and their gods. so there was more than one god

Since they cannot explain the objective reality going on around them, they created the gods. It was the only explanation for everything, volcanoes erupting, sunshine, rain, thunder, death, sickness. ......... and it was their only solution

cause they just didnt get it . man is designed to worship and since alot of them didnt/dont agree with the one and only true GOD they had to make up their own.
