writing a book without a publisher is usually a monumental waste of time. most publishers won't even read your submission since they would do nothing but read terrible manuscripts all day. try to learn about the business of writing before you spend a lot of time on it.

I've done that but it take a lot of self discipline. It's only good if you're willing to work on it as much as possible.
