what rock covers most of utah?

my best guess is salt, because of salt lake city- in order for the lake to be composed of salt water, the land around it would have to be partially composed of salt

My guess would be Basalt. Just because it is one of the common volcanic rocks, and the West seems covered with this stuff.

Just a guess though!!

But . . . their state rock is COAL!!

Ya . . . go with coal.

Mostly sandstone, althought there are all sorts from limestone to granite, to basalt here.
