A pentagram is not a solid object, it is a 5 pointed star made up of 5 'lines' and is usually drawn unbroken from start to finish, so you could either say that it has 5 sides or if you wanted to be totally exact it has 12 'sides' 2 sides each for the 5 lines and a top and a bottom which makes 12.

Incidently, if you want to draw an exact Pentagram then simply draw a circle with 60 minutes on it, and put your points every 12 minutes, ie:
12 minutes
24 minutes
36 minutes
48 minutes
& 0 minutes

now join 0 to 24 to 48 to 12 to 36 then back to 0

Easy - isn't it.

Oh and the meaning of the points are
(top) Self (conscience)
middle (Fire and air)
bottom (earth and water)

the message being YOU use those elements but do not use them for destruction or to pollute.

A regular pentagon, sides x metres in length (we'll say 16m for now), is lined on a grass or astroturf pitch. In the middle, a smaller pentagon is constructed, with goalposts extending up 6 feet on each corner. Two sets of crossbars at 3 feet and 6 feet connect the posts. Lines are drawn from the corners of the small pentagon to the corners of the large pentagon, effectively dividing the field into fifths, with a goal area in the centre. Surrounding the inner pentagon is a circle into which no players may penetrate.
