exercise!
As mean as that sounds it is true. Cramps are caused by the muscles trying to eliminate the uterine lining. The better condition the muscles, the more relaxed, the more stretched the less stressed they will be. Just like every other muscle in your body!
sit ups or crunches, keegels, walking, biking, swimming, yoga, martial arts, anything helps.
Make certain you get exercise before your cycle starts each month, keep well hydrated, and the best exercise is ...... orgasming ( is this a real word?).... i know you think I'm being rude but it's true. Self stimulation or sexual activity right before and during your period works your muscles to stretch and relax them plus it releases all those extra endorphins that numb the nerve endings. Many women experience an increased sex drive due to the changing of the hormones so you might as well enjoy making yourself feel better.

Midol maximum strength. Works fantastic but I have to catch em before the cramping is in full swing or it won't work. In which case heating pads work great (or even a nice hot shower) and believe it or not walking eleviates cramping. I have no idea why, but I've tried it.

Herbs that work well are raspberry leaf, cramp bark, black cohosh and dong quai..go to a good health food store, look for something with those herbs in a capsule.

I use Advil religously. I usually take three of them with hot water to help break it up faster.

icy hott patches work really good, so do the menthol ones... advil, midol, and tylenol could help with the cramps too...
