I have never heard of a problem with replacing brake pad while not on level ground but when you replace brake pads you should remove the rotors and have then turned what happen is as you stop and start the pads heat up the rotors and this causes then to wrap a warped rotor will be felt when you are stoping a low speed by a pulse the you will feel in the brake pedal when you are stoping

if the car is on level ground you have to jack up the tire to change the brake pad anyway. So I don't think it matters much. I learned how to change my brakes and or check for tampering because I'm a little paranoid.

only if you screw up. I assume your jacking the car up to take the tire off right? If so, the car isn't level.

Most home mechanics replace pads by jacking up one side of the car at a time. You can change the brakes while the car is upside down. It won't make a difference. Parts is parts, they fit together only one way. Just follow the right installation instructions.

That sounds totally ridiculous. The pads are compressed around the rotor by the caliper. So long as the pads are installed in the caliper and caliper is replaced in its mounting bracket, there is little reason for the system to malfunction.

However, working on the car with it jacked-up on an incline could get you killed.

You won't have problems with the brakes. But you could get very seriously hurt doing it on unlevel ground. The car could shift because of the uneven ground and if you're around it could land on you.
