Why do you call caterpillar's feelers tentacles instead of antenae?

Caterpillars do not have feelers. Are you thinking of centipedes or millipedes, which do have feelers

Tentacles are typically soft and retractile, as on a snail. Antennae are typically stiff (due to a chitinous exoskeleton) and non-retractile, as on an insect or lobster.
