I understand from news reports that Foley's name can not be removed from the ballot. I'm wondering what the reason for passing that law would be.

To have Foley's name stricken off the ballot would be nearly impossible since they are already printed and set in motion. Kind of like as if one of the runners were to have died. It's not worth the costly retraction. They will just not count in the offical poll.

You're question is moot and pointless, (no genuine disrespect) since procedural events for election have occurred. Besides, if he's not a Rep from your state, you wont' see it in 6 weeks appear. It's not like we're voting him for President and he'll appear nationally??? DuH!

Many won't be subjected to even viewing his name on a ballot, and if so, his name, FOLEY, cant' accept a position even if accidentally elected, he resigned, so this is all on no consequence. If you wish you view my polls and surveys, and replies regarding him, feel free. .. as I have outright been against him and have no agenda for his support. I only wanted to answer your question with an educated opinion.

In countries with less freedom and democracy than this one, a candidate that does not please the administration can be removed from the ballot. In order to have our freedom, we let anyone (almost) run for office. Government by the people.
