Here are a couple places you could try: Arthur Bryants and Gates are by far the best BBQ joints in the city, especially Arthur Bryants. Cheesecake factory on the Plaza is also very good.I would also check into the T-Rex Cafe. It is owned by the same company that has the Rainforest Cafe. It is in an area called The Landing(?) on the Kansas side of the state line. Great place if you have kids. Beautiful aquariums and Build A Dino inside as well as very nice gift shop.Located in an open air style shopping area. Cabelas sports storeis located nearby. The best place for variety would have to be the buffet at Ameristar Casino Kansas City. There is a great selection of food and it is all themed by region, such as barbecue, italian, chinese, etc.

They have a Rainforest Cafe. It's in Oak Park Mall. My personal favorite restaurants are the Cheesecake Factory on the Plaza and American Bandstand (<---coolest place ever! And, kind of like Hard Rock Cafe). Arthur Bryant's has the BEST barbeque ever and I would also suggest going there.

There is a rain forest cafe in Oak Park Mall (overland Park, KS). But it's kinda lame if you ask me. Jazz is a great cajun restaurant. But I'm not sure that's what you'd want for thanksgiving. Mannys is a good mexican restaurant. La Bodega is a good tappas restaurant. Lot's of good places if you dig around. Mi Ranchito in Overland Park and Olathe is probably the best authentic mexican. Hotel Philips Chop house is a good upscale place.

Any of the places in Zona Rosa are good. There is a Hereford House, Ted's Montana Grill, Bo Lings, Rib Crib, Granite City, Smokehouse BBQ, Tomfooleries, Bravo and a few others...they are all good places to try.

Try Rembrandts on Barry Road up north of the river. Also Ruth Chris Steakhouse on the Plaza is great. For barbque try the Smokehouse on North Oak Trafficway. Stroud's is also one of the best and most unique restaurants in the city.
