I have seen the same opossum two days in a row, walking along my ivy-covered fence. Since opossums are nocturnal, does this mean there is something wrong with the opossum? If so, what should I do to help it?

Raccoons are nocturnal too. Many times seeing such an animal out and about in the daytime means it might be sick, possibly with rabies if its behavior is erratic and weird, but it is not unknown to see these animals out in the daytime occasionally, especially during the spring. If they are acting very strangely (spastic and erratic, foaming at the mouth) they might be sick; call the local heath department right away.
