First off, are your walls made of plaster board or what is commonly called gypsum board? If so, you will be better off if you leave the paint on the walls and very carefully sand the edges of that section of the wall so it layers the paint to the wall, then use a good quality primer to paint the entire wall before you finish the walls.
You should check with a paint store or home center which should have some quality primers that you can purchase.
Other wise, you could wind up having to do a lot of plaster repair work prior to finishing the walls.

you can't. that is why removing wallpaper is such a pain. what you need to do now is remove the rest of the paper..let the sheetrock dry good and then buy some sheetrock mud and water it down just enough to be able to pour it in a paint tray and roll in on your walls from top to bottom randomly. let this dry and paint. it will cover any imperfections in your wall board and give the wall a nice interesting surface...

OOPS!!!! I don't think you want to take the rest of the paint off. BIG JOB.... MESSY JOB.... You would be better-off to lightly sand the edges(Feather) and paint over it.
