Try using an USB cable(I have my externa; HD connected to my PC but never tried connecting 2 laptops so i am not sure if it will work) or better yet create a home network and add both the laptops in it. So by going to 'network places' in both of ur laptop you will be able to access the other ones.

1. Use tcpip and file & print sharing over a network cable with a hub/router in between. If you have a cable or dsl modem and router, you are 90% of the way there.

2. Use netbios and computer connector over the parallel ports (printer port) using a reverse pin parallel port cable.

3. Get a large and fast USB thumb drive.

It's not easy to do anymore since computers don't come with a serial port. Do you have a network? If you do, just make the folder you want to get stuff from - "shared."
