You have it wrong. Jesus refused the wine mixed with gall ( a strong vinegary drink) that was offered to him. Matthew 27:34

"They tried to give Him wine mixed with myhhr, but He did not take it." Mark 15:23.

Myhhr was a bitter vegetable substance that was used to deaden pain. When it was soaked in wine, the alcohol dissoved and extracted a portion of the chemical that causes that symptom. Since alcohol itself is a depressant, and has been used as a pain relieving medicine from ages past, the combination is especially potent.

There is a principle in medicine called synergy where even experienced doctors and pharmacists must be careful in prescribing new medications. When two or more medications are mixed, they can have enormously magnified effects. This is why it is especially important to report to your doctor any new or unespected symptoms when beginning to take a new medication.

The accepted understanding of this is that Jesus intended to die without the benefit of any pain relief, so that He could be said to have accepted the fullest measure suffering on our behalf.

Later, when He was already on the cross, He accepted wine-vinegar offfered to Him on a sponge raised on the stiff stalk of a hyssop plant. That was simply because He was so dehydrated through loss of blood and perspiration and not having been given anything to eat or drink for the past 24 hours, His mouth was too dry to speak, and He wanted to say some final words. The wine vinegar either did not contain any myhhr, or was too late to give Him any relief.

There is no passage in the Bible where Jesus refused any drugs because He wasn't offered any drugs. They offered Him something to drink...that's all.

I don't see why they would offer drugs before they torture someone.

That's the point of torture... to cause pain.

But it looks like the people above me have already given a more informed answer. Hope it helped!

Look in the gospels towards the end of them. Luke is most likely. He refused them, probably, to retain his full alertness.

JESUS IS NEVER OFFERED DRUGS IN THE BIBLE. YOU MUST BE THINKING ABOUT THE SOUR WINE.
