A day at a health spa being pampered. Not sure if she'll like it but I bet her mam would!

If you know the sex and name of the baby, you could order a personalized item. Personalized items are popular and unusual gifts. It's very thoughtful too, that you would take the time to order something so personal.

On the Internet, the store "Personal Creations" is a great source. I've ordered many things from there and they are top quality. They have a section for baby gifts.

In addition, if they are a Christian family, you could also have a small Baby Bible New Testament personalized with the baby's name in either light pink or light blue at any local Christian store in your area.

I hope this helps you. Best wishes.

If you really want to be different, why not consider a BLUE teething ring. Seriously though a very good long term type of present would be Premium Bonds. My late Mother bought a single one pound bond for my Daughter more that forty years ago and for the first time it won her £100 last year. Good Luck to you and the child.

Bonds or some kind of high interest savings (savings for children placed in trust will give great tax relief, for the child and the investors). That way when they are old enough, they might have a deposit for a house, money for a car, or a lump sum to start their own pension.

The parents will thank you for your thoughtfulness. You can only use so may rattles and blankets; this way you are helping provide for their child's future.

A friend of mine gave me this wooden block when my son was born, and I thought it was the sweetest gift. It's very tastefully done -- one side has a big letter of the baby's first initial, then on another all the birth details (date, time, weight, etc), another side is the parents' names, another is the day of the week and city/state, and optional is who the giver is. Check out the link below.

It's personal and sweet and different, and that person will have it forever. I love it.

I don't know if you would consider this unusual, but I think a non-typical gift would be one of those baby classical CD's, to play in the baby's room at night.

Parents have found things like that to be quite helpful for babies and older children who have trouble sleeping, plus it's a great way to introduce a child to something worthwhile.

A large box of live spiders of various sizes. This is not only unusual, but practical as it will teach her about the harsh realities of life at an early age. Also, it will help her build up immunities to different types of spider venom, which may prove useful if, in the future there is a sudden surge in spider population growth and the nation is soon over run by the little eight legged cretins.

P.s.
She might die from the spiders. Just letting you know.

I hope this helps.

You can cast a hand or a foot.
Or the clay imprint kits.

For my daughter I named a star after her and put my own private message on the certificate for her.

The reason for doing this is we live abroad but when we visit the Uk her star will follow her also when any one passes away they will be looking down on her from her very own star.

With her certificates and co -ordinates she can then pass these on to her children in years to come!
