I just finished watching the news, and Snow, O'Reilly, and others have blamed Clinton for this newly acquired scandal of Foley. All I heard was, "well, what about Bill Clinton..."

The thing that Cons don't understand is that they were the ones who had set the standard when it comes to this kind of issues, and the only thing that I'm asking for them is to take responsibility for their actions and for their stance.

This issue about Foley has nothing to do with Bill Clinton. Why don't they get that?

There's really only one thing you need to know to understand the mentality of Republicans: No Republican has ever done anything wrong; and if anyone ever accuses a Republican of doing something wrong, it was Bill Clinton's fault.

Now I realize that you never mentioned Republicans, only conservatives. But people like Tony Snow and Bill O'Reilly are not really conservatives because conservatives, real conservatives like one hardly ever runs into nowadays, are willing to admit a mistake and take responsibility for it.

Republicans who call themselves conservatives are all about political power and are willing to do anything it takes, even break the law, to gain and hold political power. Political power is the end-all and be-all of their existence, which is what causes weird things like people who call themselves conservatives presuming to tell a woman what she must do when she becomes pregnant, while a real conservative would say it's no one's business, not even the government's, except the woman's.

Now you'll notice that a number of previous Republican posters are babbling about a double standard of some sort, as if hounding Clinton for years and finally impeaching him about a consensual sex act with an adult female was letting him off easy compared to Foley resigning for harassing and stalking a minor... So maybe some Bushbot whack job would like to try explaining a) what is the double standard they're talking about and b) what it has to do with them trying to blame Clinton for everything.

Good question though.

It's not blaming. It's called comparisons, which are completely in order. There is a double standard when it comes to this. Foley was wrong and resigned and if he did something criminal, he should go to prison. Clinton pardoned a former Congressman, Democrat Mel Reynolds who was imprisoned for statutory rape, soliciting a minor, and soliciting child pornography. He was having sex with a minor, and when told his young girlfriend had a 15 year old Catholic schoolgirl that wanted to have sex with him, he stated "Did I just win the Lotto"? So, it's not about blame. Foley resigned as he should have. Republicans have not rallied to his defense, but rather, they have condemned his actions. The Democrats are screaming for the Speakers resignation, and it is not even known if Foley actually did more than e-mail these kids. Meanwhile, Clinton pardoned a KNOWN, CONVICTED PEDOPHILE!!!! I ask you - where's YOUR outrage at that?!

It is not fair to say that they blame Bill Clinton. That implies a causal relationship. Instead, they are using a red herring. This of course is also a logical fallacy.

The fact of the matter is that Democrats are trying to maximize political damage from the act of one person in a party and Republicans are trying to minimize it. Thus, you can't expect rational arguments on either side. In many ways, it is similar than the Clinton scandal, but this is from a public relations point of view, and it is nothing to be proud of on either side.

Lets go back in history a little. Bill has a affair with a goverment employee in the White House. The Democrates say A_OK. A congressmen uses page boys to pimp for him, what do the Democrates do? Make him stand befor the House & promise not to do it again. This congressmen is openly gay & still there. So what do the REpublicans do? ask for the speaker to step down, ask MR. Foley to leave & ask the FBI to step in. So make up your own mind .Which party is taking responsibilty. Do not get me wrong. What Mr. Foley did is terrible & he should go to jail. But at least he is taking his lumps not still being in congress after using pages for pimps.

Conservatives don't blame Clinton, but they are angry that they are held to a double standard that Clinton was allowed to weasel out of. What angers a lot us is, if we should pay a price for Foley sending emails and IMs to a 16 year old boy, why didn't previous Dems pay for doing much worse? It is legal for a 60 year old man to have sex with a 16 year old in DC, which apparently didn't happen. So the real issue is, a Republican sent an email to a 16 year old and violated the Adam Walsh Child Protection Act of July 2006. Page molesters like Rep Studds take 17 year old boys to Morrocco and have the nerve to turn their backs on the Censure vote, the Republican Rep, Crane, had sex with a 17 year old girl, apologized and was voted out. The democrat won his seat for several more elections but the Republicans said that that sort of behaviour is not to be tolerated.
Democrats like Mel Reynolds are indicted for having sex with underage girls and get re-elected. Republicans either resign or get voted out. Livingston resigns, Clinton wags his finger in our face and says 'it depends on what your definition of 'is' is...' If the Republicans lose in November, we deserve every asinine aspect of Democratic rule that will ensue.

What an excellent point!! I hadn't thought about that. Even if having consensual sex with an adult of the opposite sex was somehow coparable to predatory leachery with teen-age boys (which it isn't!), it was the Republicans and not the Democrats that decided Clinton's infidelity was the crime of the century. The Rep's have only themselves to blame now that they have caught themselves in their own trap. I can hear the world crying for them now.

What Clinton did was human, was Foley did was perverted, sickening, and evil.

You know what dear? I am really sick and tired of Bush and his Republican company. They think that the whole world revolves around them. They refuse to take any responsibility. They do their best to find silly excuses to whees out. They blamed Clinton for everything, including 9/11 attack, promoting terrorism on this earth and for the bad economy we are sinking in. You are talking about bunch of immature teenagers with no responsibility at all. But, I am so happy because Democrats are winning anyway.

They do get it, except they truly believe that if you can't prove in a court of law then it did not really happen, or Denial. Denial is one of those characteristics that marks you as a phony person living in a fantasy world all by themselves and probably scared to death that someone is going to notice. The combat veterans call it "bunkered up! Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean that they are not out to get you!"
The conservatives are lost in "their space." LOL

Conservatives are responsible for so much pain and misery both here and all over the world. Real Americans and people of conscience know these people are wrong. Conservative thought promotes war and brought us Bush's war. A nightmare. For us and for Iraq.
Please help defeat these people in November.
Vote them out of office.
Do the right thing... not the right wing!
