They are Asian ladybugs. The best way to control them is the most time consuming but the most long lasting. Go get three tubes of caulk and a caulk gun and go around your house and fill every little crack and hole you can find, especially on the west and south sides of the house. These beasts at this time of year swarm to houses and if they can find a hole they go in and settle between the inner wall and outer wall of your house. If they later find holes through the inner walls, well, then they're in your house--and you have to vacuum them up.

If you want a temporary solution spray the sides of your house with malathion or sevin and that will kill most of them before they can get into your walls. But you'll have to do that year after year and do you really want to live in a house coated with pesticides. If you do spray the house, test spray in a hidden area to make sure the chemicals do not discolor the siding. Malathion and sevin are not supposed to but better to be safe than sorry.

I really recommend the caulk. I get maybe 2 or 3 a year in my house in the winter while others are getting hundreds. I did the caulk.

Yes, they stink when you kill them, they also will leave an orange stain. They are a real pain. Being from Wisconsin, we get them bad this time of year. I have heard of people making a soapy mix with something like Dawn and water. Then spraying the outside of your house. If they are inside, vaccum them up. But be sure to get rid of the bag right away.....or they'll die and stink! I've been told to be sure to not let them stay in your house or they will reproduce as long as it's warm in there. I know this isn't much help....but I don't know of a real "sure" way to get rid of these buggers! Good Luck!!
