It's OK. The play's better. Tennesse Ernie Ford as I recall...?
Oh wait - you have to read the play - as in the script?
Well, that ain't much fun unless you're in the play! - I don't care how good the play is...
If they've cut out the blocking, scenery, and stage directions, won't be too bad.
There are worse plays... And you're probably get to read them also!
Do you have a list of what you have to read for this class?
If you want, rent a movie of it (I'm sure it's been made intto a movie at least once), and then read it (if you have time). Might help.

It is by Arthur Miller (Tennessee Ernie Ford was a singer not a writer, btw) and I remember reading the play in college. We read the play and then were 'rewarded' by watching the movie. Neither would be high on my list to repeat....however...there are much worse plays with higher literary acclaim that you could be forced to endure. (The Iceman Cometh, etc)

It is very a very good idea for a tragedy, it mostly follows Aristotle's poetics but its big innovation was to make the tragic hero a commonman or everyman, instead of a king, like Oedipus or a prince, like Hamlet.

Death fo Salesman is great. When reading it imagine it has it happens like a movie or soap opera. I promise you will never forget it if you give it a chance.

It is an American classic for a reason. Keep an open mind while you're reading it.

I disliked it greatly. I wouldn't rent a movie of it, though, because that would reveal the ending. If you know the end, it is pointless to read it.

it's very emo which is cool if you're into that. but its kind of anit-climactic. it builds up to what u think is going to be something really huge but it's so not. im not even entirely sure what the point of the story was.

I faintly remember that if that tells you anything. I do remember it wasn't too bad for school reading, but I wouldn't read it again.
