for a first bike the R1 is way too quick so you say that you know all the numbers then you know that the friggin bike makes as much hp as a neon and weighs way less it is a nice smooth bike but i can tell you this my track bike is a R6 and my street bike is a R1 why is that because racing belongs on the track and with the R1 it is very easy to slip a rear tire in a corner even the pros do it all the time you should start on the R6 you will think it is very fast and you don't need to be so easy on the gas for a first bike the R1 is just too much if you have done so much research on the R1 why don't you do some riding research and you will find out that the people who race bikes like the EX500 very rarely use the bike to its fullest so a R1 is just a waste of cash but what i say don't matter to you so just make sure your organ donor card is signed

My best friend is a stunter and he has an R1. I've seen him do his stunts on it and crashed a lot. But the bike still holds together, He let me ride it a few times and do some tricks. It had excellent throttle response and plenty of horsepower for a beginner or even an advanced rider. He said it was an excellent bike to learn on and a great bike to become good on. Plus, they are really easy to find parts for. 9 out of the 10 bike shops or websites I've visited have plenty of parts for the R1. I have a YZF600 and it is somewhat similar to the R1. It isn't in the same horsepower range or what not but, it is fairly close. Yeah, the R1 is strong as a rock and is a good bike to learn on in my opinion.

Skip the R1 and get a Kawasaki ZX-14. Why fool around with a slow bike. Buy some good medical insurance, write your will and kiss your Mommy goodbye.
I've been riding for over 40 years. 18 year olds don't know squat!

I watched an old friend buy an R1 for his first bike and ride away from the Honda/Yamaha dealer I was working at and never seen him again...They are intended for experienced riders only.

at first........I_Love_Chick, is erroneous!!!! i assume her or his dad isn't coaching his toddler not something. The Yzf R6 is a 600cc and a Yzf R1 is a 1000cc. consequently, A R1 has greater torge and means, greater advantageous handeling. A R1 is a amazing motorbike for greater journey riders. It has alot of means. A Yzf R6, is greater of a novices motorbike that's stil alot of means, Dont get me incorrect. It only has way much less means and much less weight as an R1.

As an employee of a bike dealership working in parts and service, I say buy one... they're great for business.
As a fellow motorcycle rider that would like to see you live a long and happy life with the ability to walk and have sex... I say buy a Ninja 250 for a first bike.

not a good choice for a first bike. start out on something smaller and with less power. i have ridden an r1 and i have been riding for 27 years. it can be a very scary ride.

you are so dead if u get that bike....i suggest u get a moped and work ur way up...motorcycles are alot more than just cool (ie. much training and expeirience is needed)....if you have never wrecked a motorcycle (like a mini-bike, dirt bike) you certainly dont need to be hopping on a crotch rocket like that...you will go into a turn to fast, get scared, straighten up, and BLAM ur dead!!!...thats what most newbie riders do...dont be that guy

Dude, don't go to patricksperformance.com he will rip you off and his part quality is crap. He pretends that he'll refund you and that he'll answer all your questions, but he'll only answer to get you to buy something and then he's gone, won't answer your questions and he sounds like he knows nothing about the business. He's a poser. Warning to all riders looking for parts and things....DO NOT BUY FROM PATRICKSPERFORMANCE YOU WILL GET RIPPED OFF.
