Is this for homework? The statement is not true. The Emancipation Proclamation was not signed until two years into the war. The North was fighting to preserve the union of all the states from the beginning and until the end. There were many other add ons which included the end of slavery. Remember though, that even though the above statements are true, the root cause of ANY war is economics. And then you go from there.

Absolutley Fasle. The Civil War was about states rights. States having the choice to make their own laws and be the way their citizens wanted that state to be. The Federal Government wanted states to follow certain laws that were uniform to all states (then why have states) Lincoln after the southern states cut away decided to abolish slavery to further escalate the war and tick off the south. The war was already underway and need to gather the support of non slave owners. he basicly used something the public was divided on to gain more support. Kinda like abortion. If we had a current civil war and the acting president decided he would outlaw abortion, the abortion issue would then take center stage. Years from now that civil war would be noted as being about abortion.
The North needed the south and vice versa. So he picked an issue that would fir people up to gain support.

No! And what's with the Southern slur, you yankee troll! Southern idiots indeed! In the beginning it was because the South felt they had the right to seceed and the North did not! The emancipation proclamation was made by Lincoln as a ploy to win his wartime election. It became the rallying point for the North.

Knowing about his life it looks more likely that he was truly interested in the emancipation of slaves. He was great in so many small ways - a la Mahatma Gandhi. If honest abe did say anything it must be therefore true.

No, what about the rode island slave port? The north really did not care. The Federal government's aggression was an attack on states' individual sovereignty. Slavery issue like the WMDs was a lie.

once you seem on the date of the quote, it develop right into a lot too tactless for Lincoln, do not you imagine? He suggested this to her (and he did say it) after the conflict of Antietam, the bloodiest day (till now) in American militia historic previous. that's continually taken aback me, because he regularly develop into very careful about what he suggested. "so that you're the little female who wrote the e book that made this large conflict"

NOT dufuss the war was to save the Union after the South had seceded (left) the Union... It was to preserve our country. Slavery would have gone on for years if they hadnt left the Union... Wherever you get your information no nothing about and only pretends to know about....
