Ok...what's up with people blaming alcohol for their inappropriate actions. First Mel Gibson and now Condressman Mark Foley. I just found out this guy is now in rehab. What happen to jail? And if I heard anything supporting the "boy love" theory I'm going to puke!

I agree. It's like the minute they get caught then they go to rehab. Why not go to rehab before? That means that they didn't really want to stop but because they got caught they have to make it appear like they are going to change. Now, he's saying he was abused as a child by a priest. What happened to responsibility? Is there no one that will accept responsibilities for their actions instead of blaming it on their issues?

When a man such as Foley is found to be doing something despicable, they run toward the closest excuse around. And since some idiots call alcoholism a disease instead of the poor choice made by the users, they blame everything possible on the alcohol instead of their behavior. Foley has used the internet to solicit sex from boys. This is sick and he is a hypocrit as well as a criminal. He needs to be fully investigated and meted the greatest punishment possible for any and all illegal activities. He won't need rehab if he's in prison. He'll dry out (and hopefully dry up) just fine if he's off the street for a long, long time.

Alcohol rehab has proven to be a comfortable place to chill out while your crimes play out in the public arena. People generally have a more positive attitude of someone who has gone through it. It would not surprise me if the Republicans have "clinics" they go to to get them out of the spotlight and I'll bet they are nothing like the "Betty Ford Clinic" and more like a hidden mountain lodge in Idaho.

That is what I call "convenient alibi" and may save their skin in the eyes of the law. But the human mind is not govern by the eyes of the law. You know, I know, we know. (Just like in the movie. "I started smoking cause my neighbors wife is pregnant").
