Or at the very least, the young men who were subjected to Foley's advances? Isn't this the kind of corruption that happens when either party remains in power for too long?

Proud to be an American - you misinterpreted the question. I didn't state that pedophiles are running wild in Washington because one party has been in power too long...what I intended was that these sorts of cover-ups, brush asides and arrogance are what come of absolute power for extended periods.

Absolute power corrupts absoletly. When there are no checks and balances, this is what happens.

I am ashamed of the way these men and women act once they get a little power under their belt. It seems to me that thy are being hypocritical. They preach one thing but live differently. I hope they nail all involved and maybe people won't be tempted to do the same thing. Our children are to be protected and these people seemed to have covered it up. The man has not denied that he did this. Neither Hastert nor Foley. Foley blames it on childhood abuse and Hastert has not given a descent explanation as to why he sat on his butt and didn't act. It is time for a change. I don't think they need to be in power for more than 5 years at a time

"Isn't this the kind of corruption that happens when either party remains in power for too long?"

No... how can you even say that?

What in the world does Foley's sexual preferences have to do with which party is in power. Foley would have done what he did regardless on who was sitting in the White House or who was Speaker of the House. What a stupid stupid comment.

Foley is a sick man. He isn't a sick man because the Republicans are the majority party right now.

Why are you attempting to turn this into a Republican versus Democrat issue?

What makes you or Nancy Pelosi or any of these Democrats that are trying to gain political momentum because some sick man attempted to seduce young boys *any different* from the guys on Capital Hill who attempted to hide this from the public view to hold onto political momentum? I contend there is deceit and corruption on both sides of the aisle.

Is it not true that the Democratic leadership is exploiting these young boys also? I guarantee you one thing... the first thought that came to the minds of the Democratic leadership after learning about Foley wasn't concern for the boys. Their first thought was probably what this would do for their party. How noble is that?

I'm of the opinion that EVERY elected official (with VERY few exceptions) owes the American people an apology for the sorry-@ss way that OUR country is being run!
For example....my neighborhood is being over-run by thugs and drug dealers, yet the cops still find time to set up radar traps a few miles from my home!
If it's not safe for my Momma to come into my neighborhood and knock on my door then cops have no business sitting their fat-asses on the side of the road writing tickets!
Until our tax-payer-funded employees take care of REAL problems then I see no need for them to prey on the majority of us law abiding citizens!

No.

Just a resignation.

Maybe it's time America acknowledged that the rule by the party of Graft, Opportunism, and Pedophile-Sheltering (GOP) hasn't turned out so well. Time for a real change.

Don't make assumptions until the facts come out. You will find that this is just another Dem. election October surprise. This will be fun to watch, wait and see. I got to hear some of the facts
This one is going to backfire just like the last election smear campaigns did.
