having your husband or boyfriend listening to Metallica pretty loud in the kitchen while he was cooking dinner with your son or daughter?

I just wanted to add that my 7 year old son selects the music and these days it's mainly Metallica 2 weeks ago it was Los Lobos and before that Queen. We don't blast it to the point where it could dmage our hearing.

Let's see... husband... spending quality time with the child... while listening to music that (to my knowledge) doesn't talk about killing policement or beating your wife.

Sure it may be a bit loud, but I'm sure the kids are loving it, and dinner's on the table without MY effort?

Yeah... I'm not seeing a problem here, in fact, think I'll go find that old Metallica CD right now!

I would as long as it wasn't too loud. Childrens ears can get damaged so much easier than adults...I love Metallica! My 1 and 2 1/2 year old know them..but even the 2 years old says "tooloud mommy" when it is just a regular level so becareful. It's not worth ruinign their hearing for the rest of their lives...how would they get to enjoy all the other great music out there?

And hell..if you are cooking...I'd probably just shut up and be happy..

I LOVE Metallica!!!!! The Black Album is my favorite. And hey, he's bonding with the kids, and as long as they don't mind and are enjoying it is say head bang on!!! As long as he's attentive to how the kid feels, like if it's too loud for them, then he should respect them and turn it down. Other than that I personally don't have a problem. I don't have kids yet, but I often blare Dirks Bently - Modern Day Drifter (country), TOOL (I know you know who that is), Queen's Greates Hits the Gold Album, Pink Floyed - Dark Side of the Moon.

I think it's just so great that you're cooking with your 7 year old that putting up with Metallica is a small price to pay.

Hmmmm Daddy spending time with kids and making dinner? I'd take it. What do I care what music you guys want to listen to. If it bothered me so much I guess I'd go in my room and shut the door or go outside. Father child bonding time is way more important then my tastes in music.

My ercent ex from a few months ago would listen to harder stuff than that crap all the time in front of her own kids.....lol. Metallica isn't even hard anymore. Even their old stuff isn't bad.

Yeah, some women would tolerate it just fine.

If my boyfriend is in the kitchen cooking dinner for me, I could not care less how noisy he is and what he choses to listen to. If it helps him cook more, bring it on I say!

Ummm, I guess it's fine. I'd like to be optimistic and believe my boyfriend would never listen to Metallica though. If it's his thing...ah well. To each their own.

I personally don't care for Metallica but it wouldn't bother me. It would crack me up to hear my husband listening to it though. He hates that kind of music.

No matter what anyone here says it's the opinion of the woman that counts. Someone else might think it's great, but if she doesn't like it then that's all that matters. Husband's need to respect their wife's concerns. Maybe the wife should just insist that it's turned down rather than off? It's about compromise I suppose?
