Just as soon as our governments can force us to. No cash means no black market and no tax evasion. In theory at least. No counterfeiting and no ability to hoard for resistances. Plus a conveniently computer controlled and monitored trail for every transaction, even down to the fine scale to catch those flying under the current ten thousand dollar reporting requirement by splitting up payments into smaller packages.

well - watch what happens to the Euro - and pretty much the others will follow. I don't trust electronic anything - it's not that hard for people to rip off about anything. It just means they can do it easier and faster. I hope they keep cash around a long time.

and then when they dont "It's the end of the world as we know it.... but I feel fine...."

It's impossible to see the future,but the day is coming when we'll turn around and there will be no such thing as paper money. We'll
be using cards instead,everyone without exception will have direct
deposit. I would give it another twenty or thirty years.

people are always going to want to have currency to put their hands on. Not everyone likes to put money in banks. I know it is old fashioned but there will always be people like this. You can avoid ATM fees when buying items by taking cash back. I do it all the time.

This is already the case. The vast majority of, but not all of, financial transactions occur electronically.

I don't know but I am ready for it. I love my atm card. I actually spend money more practical when I slide my card instead of just handing cash over.

hopefully the banks will stop charging us to use our debit cards before then...otherwise it would just be wasting our money on charges and fees instead of the actual items
