i am thinking about getting my tongue pierced but i have to wear retainers at night and was wondering if that would pose a problem in any way? also if a few years down the road i decide to take out the piercing would it close or stay open?

I used to have my tongue pierced. I loved it, BUT it chipped my teeth and got in the way a lot. So, since you have a retainer, I'd say you should wait. Tongue piercing will be around for a long long time, so you can get it done in a year or two if you still want it.

As for the hole, I personally do not have a scar or anything. Mine closed up within 2 days of removing it. The tongue is one of the fastest healing piercings you can get, but it takes a few days of not talking and soft foods to get there. (Plus a lot of that nasty 'original' listerine)

It's important if you do get a piercing (of any kind) to be picky about who does it, and take very very good care of it after wards.

It has no longer some thing to do with orientation, authentic some do it for giving yet another female excitement like adult adult males do, yet i recognize alot of instantly females with tongue piercings...a piercing or tattoo can't teach if someone is gay or no longer.

If you take out the piercing even years later it will close up.

Don't get it pierced. Ask your orthodontist and he/she will show you terrifying pictures of what pierced tongues do to the tongue and reatiners in the long run. It's horrifying.

It wont cause a problem, you will be fine. And when you take it out for more than one day it will close up.

dont do it. if it is a good idea today it will be a good idea a year from now. you should wait. besides all the other problems there are infections and food getting lodged in there etc.
