Mexican Immigrants?

Question

With so many people immigrating for Mexico, whether legally or illegally, do you think it's right that most education jobs are now requiring applicants to speak spanish? Doesn't this just enable spanish speakers to slide by without having to learn english? And doesn't it discriminate against english speaking Americans? A friend of mine was told recently that she can continue teaching (has been a teacher for 17 years) but she will have to work for free until she learn spanish? WTF?

Well we didn't learn to speak spanish in 1846 when we invaded mexico and took what is now California,Arizona,Texas,New Mexico,and part of Lousianna under the "manifest destiney act"look that term up on the net and you'll see a one way street//

Wow, that is SO wrong about your friend. It does not bode well to expect that we all learn Spanish. I think if you come here you darned well better be prepared to learn the language! I work in a grocery store/super center and we just remodeled and the biggest complaint that we got is that the signs above the grocery aisles are in Spanish and English. We don't even have that big of a Hispanic/Latino population in our town excpet the contracted workers who clean that got the jobs of some fellow-former workers.

Something needs to be done and learning Spanish ain't it!

here is something i feel strongly about. mexican have no right to come here just to take our money and send it or spend it were ever. i wrong to have people have to learn spanish if they want to come here they can just learn to speak eglish. when my great -great-grandparents came over by boat to elis island they could not speak eglish but they learned and they make sure there family learned. this makes me so mad. i hear all the time from the wet back well if we did not do it no one would. bull crap. i know men that want to work and cant find a job. i know of wet back that get food stamps and welfare checks for kids they do not have. i tell them go back to mexico if you dont want to do it right way here. GO BACK HOME WET BACK THAT WHAT I SAY TO THERE FACE.

Honey wake up. Its not about Mexicans.. here in MIAMI if you are not bilingual, have a good resume and are good handling people you don't get a nice job. If you are a monolingual person you will have the heck of a hard time. Its not fair, but that's the way it is.

yeah thats wrong if you're going to another country you should prepare yourself to do things there way not go there and try to make them do things your way it doesnt work like that its like going to someones house and telling them how u want things done.

i think it is unfair... we should be all speak english and just give incentives for those of us who speak more than one language
