Why would you put salt and sugar together to begin with.

A mixture of salt and sugar can be separated by using an organic solvent to dissolve the sugar. When the sugar is dissolved, it can be separated by filtering the salt from the liquid sugar.
as simple as that

Well, it is possible by some chemistry methods:

First in a large glass of cold water and mix the "Salt+Sugar" you have there.
Then wait until some solid particles form on the bottom of the glass.
Carefully take the water out of the glass.
The solid particles are SUGAR
Then the water is SALT+WATER
Take the "Salt+Water" and boil it until there is no more water.
Then you will end with just SALT (hot salt...)

Thats the theory.... the process you do is up to you.

"Salt dissolves on water but sugar only apparently dissolves but later fall to the bottom... to dissolve sugar on water you need HOT water not cold" (something like that)

Gasoline ha ha that's funny. Mix them in water and the salt will settle. Evaporate the water and the sugar will settle. Or a centrifuge will remove the salt and vacuum will separate the sugar.

They each (salt and sugar) have different melting points. separate them by heat

First discard of the salt and sugar that was mixed. Put new salt in a salt shaker and put new sugar in the sugar jar. Here's the important step, dont mix them ever again.
