Just wondering. What does it do? I heard something about glare but that seems a bit odd.

Originally it was to reduce the glare in the eyes. But now it is mainly for decoration. (Warpaint)

it is for the glare. It protects the playes from the glare of the sun. And i guess in the case of night games, those really bright lights.

That's what it used to be for anyway. I'm not sure if it's still like it now.

For the glare. Very important when you are trying to make a catch. Many a time the ball is lost in the light!

It actually absorbs the sunlight helping the players to see. If it is a night game it will absorb the stadium lights and make it a little easier to see. In the end its mostly because it looks cool and its like a tradition. It doesnt help much at all.
