The obvious is the first impression, firm handshake, etc. of meeting the manager and submitting an app. in person. However, many companies are asking people to apply online. I suppose if a person really needs a job, he will have to fore go the warm fuzzies.

well you can do it in your pagamas. the employer pays attention to your writen qulityies and not the way you look and you can apply for jobs at any time. jThe cons are that some employers in the area might not use the web to locate individuals and then you would miss out on the best job of you lofe so why no do both

Many companies I've found prefer online applications because it saves both you and them time. They can filter out good and bad applicants easily and quickly respond to let you know their decision.

However, a con is that you don't get to talk to someone face to face and make a personal impression. Your personality often adds to your application.

Pros:

Easy, fast, you can pull your app back up most places, gets to employers quicker.

Cons:

You don't know if it's getting to your possible employer quicker or not, you did not hand it to a person, so you do not know if anyone actually looks at it.

It is not personal. I don't think it really says much about you if you can't get up, go out, and visit the company/business yourself and put an app in.

They have never seen you, nothing to base anything on except what is in your app...
