Interesting question, I suppose Christopher Reeves had to ask himself this question and fortunatly for thousands of others in the same situation, he said yes. Thus he became an inspiration to these people and just about everyone else. Maybe he paid the price for being Superman. Practically a living God. When he was Superman, thousands of people envied the kind of individual he portrayed. People that admired power, immortality, great looks, the ability to fly. Perhaps the real God in all her/his wisdom said that these are all good and nice. But what is truly important is how one lives when he or she has nothing. When confronted with the choice to die or live when nothing is left but suffering. When you choose life for those that love you (OTHERS), for those that are suffering like you (OTHERS, not yourself), but look up to you to show them what to do. He lost his power to even move, lost his hair and his good looks. But he showed us his real strength didn't he? Which one was the real Superman? The character he played when the whole world was his or was it whom he proved himself to be when everything was taken away from him? I'll always admire him for not giving up and what he gave to people without hope. And his wife appears to have been cut from the same cloth. If you are facing this decision. Perhaps you have been diagnosed with cancer and about to lose more hair and your lunch after every encounter with the chemotherapist. Remember the others, the children, the frightened that are in your same predicament. Show them how to do it, how to go on.

I would choose to die. Why put myself through all that misery just to die anyway?
