I think you are asking if the glass will break because of cold temperatures. You can whack a piece of glass with a hammer at any temperature.

The answer is, it depends. If a glass object is cooled slowly and evenly, it wil not break.
The classic goof of putting an iced drink in a pan of boiling water breaks because the outside of the glass expands and the inside of the glass does not.

I relies upon on a large form of aspects. skinny glasses, like wine glasses, are much less probable to break than thicker glasses. that is because of the fact in thicker glasses, the glass heats up/cools down inconsistently, while skinny glass has a tendency to warmth and funky flippantly. maximum glass would be positive going quickly into warm water quickly from the faucet. except you're putting them from warm water quickly into chilly water, there should not be a lot risk of them breaking. they could desire to be positive going into the refrigerator after basically a couple of minutes, because of the fact the refrigerator won't cool them down unexpectedly, yet is a greater sluggish cooling technique.

what is really cool to do. Is take a glass bottle like a glass beer bottle, if you have a camp fire, put it in the fire for awhile, then get a stick and get the bottle on the stick and then put it in water right away. Sometimes the bottle breaks and other times it just cracks it enough to look really cool.

A very rapid temperature CHANGE can cause glass to break.

However, if it is done slowly, I do not believe there is any temperature at which glass will break spontaneously.

Glass will not break by its self at any temperature.

It will break if both hot and cold are applied that the same time.
