Me .. not now. I'm cheap. I try really hard for the $4.50 to $15 .. at the thrift store or the overstock store.
Top end sport shirts do often look better than the walmart brand and some people can see it. sometimes I can see it. of course if it is going under a sweater .. who cares.
The "mark" like the penguin, croodile, polo guy .. it is a power symbol showing that they have the means to spend that much.
women are more susiptale to this then men, but the fashon industry has been trying to rope men into this for years.
A fun recent movie is " the devil wears prada " which will give you a feel for your answer.

Because he can afford it.
You admit that it looks good...
Im sure those poor Africans ask the same question of those of us who spend $5 @ Mcdonalds for 1 Meal.
If you can afford it and you like it then it shouldnt be a problem...
I was once in Paris and visited The Galaries La Fayette ( spelling ? )
I saw semi casual skirt and jacket combination for 5000 Euros!
In the end its all relative my friend...
Why did you want that shirt? because it looks good! Why didnt YOU buy it ? because you felt 72$ is too expensive ...
Why did your friend buy the shirt? because it Looks good ...
Why did he spend the money he spent ? Because he didnt mind forking out a little extra for a nice shirt...
If you own a computer and live in America... then $72 really shouldnt be that much money ...
If you Live in a third world country and earn less than $2 a day .. then that $ 5 Meal at Mcdonalds , whcih im sure you and myself included take for granted, is very expensive!
:)

Thats a good question. Its probably not as good as my reason for not buying any kind of shirt for that price. Its just like those little hoochie shirts that they sell for like 112.00. Its insane they are just trying to make money off of these preppy fashion controlled preppys that need to have all the hot expensive things. Spoils it for the rest of us. The most Ive ever spent on a shirt was 40.00 bucks and this shirt was silk and beautiful. Not a freakin girls polo with a pink strip down the middle.Good luck on finding an answer though.

follow the creation of the shirt....its made in a common factory for about 3 bucks then the designers place an order and put some logo on it....then through the wholesale distributors for about 10 bucks then to retail for 72 bucks ...everybody gets a cut of the action....they account in electricity, gas, showroom etc and look for people that want to buy a logo shirt....its a fashion thing for people think you are stupid or "in fashion"

I have five Lacoste polos, two Lacoste thermals, and a pair of pink Lacoste shoes. Look, i've had experience with this sort of thing, and just because you can't afford something like that doesn't mean you should trash those of us who can. The reason I spend that much is because they are comfortable, stylish, and good quality. They last a long time! Really, if you are going to be jealous, please keep it to yourself.
