They are located in Foxboro, Massachusetts - but because the team is nearly equal in distances from Boston, MA as it is from Providence, RI (therefore it is technically in both metro areas) they renamed the team from the Boston Patriots to the New England Patriots since the team moved out of Boston and to Foxboro over 35 years ago.

Oh and to the saying that New England goes to South PA, no that was the North in the Civil War and that is where the Mason-Dixon line is. New England is the small States from the North of NY to Maine.

Massachusetts. Tehy are calle dNew England beacause they represent RhodeIsland, Connecticut, Vermont, New hampshire which was where the people from england setteld in making it New England. Now in Massachusetts jsut a large populated state in New England, they play in foxboro.
