One of the old time greats!, 13 February 2000
Author: wishkah7 from Brooklyn, NY. (Where I'm from originally.)

This movie is really cool! It's one of my favorites from the old times! The cast was excellent, the storyline and plots were good too! Humphrey Bogart did an excellent job playing Sam Spade! He was always good at playing a detective, hero, or whatever. He was my favorite in this.

Also, Sydney Greenstreet and Peter Lorre were good in this, too as the bad guys, Kasper Gutman and Joel Cairo. I've read the book, but the book is a little better than the movie. The best part was where they discover the Maltese Falcon was a fake, Joel Cairo kept screaming and crying at Kasper Gutman calling him an imbecile and idiot. Also, I liked Spade's realtionship with Iva Archer in this, too.

This movie is a true classic! It has mystery, drama, a little humor, and romance too! This flick has a little something in it for everyone. If you haven't seen it yet, then you don't know what you're missing! ;)

The Maltese Falcon was the first pairing of Greenstreet and Peter Lorre, and so well did they work together that they made nine other movies, including ''Casablanca'' in 1942 and ''The Mask of Dimitrios'' (1944), in which they were not supporting actors but actually the stars.
