Because they are Gods chosen people and the U.S. knows that. We maybe stupid but we're not stupid enough to go up against that.

The Soviet Union supported the Arab nations of the old Ottoman Empire in order to maintain a buffer between them and the west. The exception was Turkey which has been a western Allie since the end of WWI. We supported Israel as a western outpost in what was in the center of the Arabian continent to provide a base of operations against the Soviet puppet, and eventually into the back door of the Soviet Union. With Turkey, Israel, and Iran, we were able to keep pressure on the Soviet puppet states. Those states were Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan (to some degree). It made the middle east a checkerboard of US v. Soviet satellites. I am writing this off the top of my head so some of the details are a bit fuzzy. This is the gist of it.

I have no idea why myself... they really shouldn't be.

The US is against any middle eastern countries having nuclear weapons, yet isreal does, and during the 60's when they were developing them, the US didn't say boo about it.

Isreal INVADED their neighbor, and we gave them our blessing.

Palastine has been fighting for what was technically theirs by right, and the US blames them for all violence when Isreal is the one that is constantly bombing and fighting in palastine.

I am far from a world expert, far from far, in fact, (Say that 10x fast) but even I can see that there is something more than meets the eye, behind the scenes. The US has no logical reason to support Isreal while condemning all the other countries of the region.

Rick D... you are clueless man.

1 soldier (or was it 2?) was kidnapped by a group of extremeists and Isreal used this to INVADE the country. Do you honestly, seriously think that Isreal cared that much for those two soldiers that they would risk an all out war in order to get them back? Get serious man.

Isreal, much like the US is nothing but a group of war mongers.

good question. Sharon claimed the tail (Israel) wagged the dog (US). US has used its UNSC veto 13 times in the last 16 years for Israel and threatened to do so many other times meaning resolutions didn't even get tabled.

Is it only the Jewish lobby in the US and its power? I really don't get it. It can't be a religious connection, after all - as Mel Gibson's film showed so brutally - the Jews killed Christ and he is irrelevant to their religion. Only a mixed-up Christian would misunderstand that. Jesus is a prophet in Islam, but not in Judaism.

Israel has more UN resolutions against it (64) than Iraq ever did (16) and its racist policies, aggressive wars and occupation of Palestine have been the main motivation for Arab radicalism for 60 years. If peace had been brokered - if the US had been an honest broker - al qaeda may never have got off the ground.

Israel is a strong, stable alli in the Middle East. Many American's have ties to Israel through their Jewish heritage, as well as Christians. I spent some time in Israel in 1999 and 2000 and I fell in love with the place. It has great heritage value to nearly all western religions.

Israel was formed by the action of the UN.. way back in 48. Why would we not support it? We seem to be supporting nearly every other government in that part of the world, financially. Including the Palestinians..

God, and no thats not a joke. Many Jews immigrated to the US and many Jews made prominant political progress which allowed for the creation of the Jewish Nation State of Israel. We helped form it, and we are going to protect it.

What amazes me is, Israel is the only country that gets attacked
not by one, but two and three countries, they successfully defend themselves, and take the offensive crushing their enemies. But somehow they are the evil doers. Take the recent events. Using the liberal mindset, I should be able to come into your house steal your two kids and not expect you to do anything. They are surrounded by countries that want to destroy them. The are the only democratic country except Iraq now. Why shouldn't we defend them.

Because Israel is the only country in the middle east that has been friendly to us.

Israel stands between us and the crazies, so its in our interest to keep them alive.

U.S would back any democraticly elected country against any attacking force I do believe.

Or the conspirators view point-The U.S is run by Jews/Masons or even masonic Jews who will do anything to attack the arabs.

Take your pick =D
