The Sioux Nations are originally from the Minnesota area as are the Ojibway, Northern Crees, and others. As memory serves me, the Sioux were among the Algonquian tribes that had migrated westward, gaining hunting grounds from weaker nations along the way until they settled in the Dakotas.

You should be able to obtain more information on the early inhabitants of Minnesota by going through an Internet search engine.

Good luck with your project.
