I disagree. Regardless of which belief system I choose to follow, I must still be responsible for my own actions, and the consequences thereof.

Actually as someone who did not grow up with religion and found my faith into my 30's I would have to state that I take responsibility for my own action.

But more than that I am more aware of things that I was not taking responsibility for prior to my faith such as my anger, that was always easier to blame on someone else. I now take responsibility for others more than I did before and think about what actions I did that contributed to their situation.

My religion gives me more responsibility but it give me ever so much more peace.

My religion teaches that God gives me free will to choose between right and wrong. Whichever I choose is my responsibility. So, it is not giving me any excuses for my actions.

In most cases I would say that this is completely true, however there are some out there, not many who truly care for others and use religion and it's institutions as information gathering centers.
