Most likely you were reading instead of doing what you were supposed to be doing OR, you were reading questionable material. You're right, you could have been doing something much worse, but you still have to listen to your superiors.

Really it depends if you were in class and what you were reading. Were you suppose to being doing something else in class? The teacher might have wanted your full attention so she could feel that you were taking in what she was saying. She should have given you a warning first but if it wasn't the first time then you should take the blame and look at both sides of the story.

1-why would you intentionally type as if you were illiterate?
2-if what you were reading was not a textbook or other resource for that specific class then yes you should have gotten in trouble. it shows a distinct lack of respect for the teacher and what the teacher is trying to teach.
3-recreational reading or reading for a different class should be done either in a)study hall, b)lunch period, c)at home.

It depends on the situation. If you were reading instead of listening to a lecture, reading during math class instead of doing practice problems, or reading something completely inappropriate, then yes, you should have gotten in trouble. Otherwise, of course you should not have gotten in trouble for reading.

No, you definitely should not be punished for reading anywhere, especially at school. But there are some details missing in this story...what parts are you leaving out? Where were you, where were you supposed to be, and what words were exchanged when you were "caught"?

Unless the teacher was lecturing or giving instructions, there is nothing wrong with reading a few chapters during class.

I would think reading would be encouraged in school, but that's okay keep up the reading but try not to get into anymore trouble in school.

Presumably they thought you should be doing something else. Of course, I must wonder what else is more important than reading. What were you reading, by the way?

i do that in my classes. That sucks if you get in trouble and i don't think that is fair. Just read in classes where the teachers don't give a ***.

What were you supposed to be doing other than reading? AND what were you reading?
