Rocky Mountains States

The Rocky Mountains of North America include three mountainous regions: the Southern Rockies, the Northern Rockies, and the Canadian Rockies.

The Southern Rockies extend from northern New Mexico, through Colorado and Utah, into southern Wyoming. Ninety-nine of the one hundred highest peaks in the Rocky Mountains are located in Colorado. The Colorado Plateau also extends into Arizona.

The Northern Rockies extend from northwestern Wyoming into Montana and Idaho. South Pass, Wyoming, the lowest point on the Continental Divide between the Southern and Northern Rockies, is generally considered to divide the two regions.

The Northern Rockies and Canadian Rockies do not have a distinct natural boundary, so the 49th Parallel (USA-Canada border) is normally used to distinguish the two regions. The Canadian Rockies extend along the Alberta-British Columbia border into Northern British Columbia. Associated ranges of the Canadian Rockies extend into the Yukon and Alaska.

I believe the question you wanted to ask is... What state ARE the Rocky Mountains in? They lie in several US states and in Canada. They stretch more than 3,000 miles from British Columbia, Canada to New Mexico in the US.
