Because the Soviet Union withdrew their submarines from the area and did not install nuclear weapons which would have been aimed at the US.

It should the russians that we where not afraid of communism and that had the people rebeled we were ready to go in .Yeah like anybody gave a damn about Cuba .We let that country go right down the tubes .Gave florida a chance to develop its tourist Industry and became the jump off point for many island cruses ..Way to go Usa .

Because Cuba already had nuclear warheads before the blockade and they never got rid of them. Castro was ready to use them too, but was over-ruled by Khrushchev. See Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara's book. Very scary! We were SO close to world annihilation.

We did long time ago. In the modern era it was MAD that prevented us from directly invading Cuba mutual assured destruction.

We made a back-door deal with Russia.
They remove the missiles and we would never invade Cuba.

We have had more class up until now to attack a sovereign nation, no matter how bad it is we have no right to invade anybody for the sole purpose of regime change. Yes, I am saying George Bush has no class.

They tried to, using Cuban exiles, but JFK got cold feet ( big surprise) and left them to die. It was called the Bay of Pigs invasion, look it up.
