It is a little strange right now with the Liberals wanting to maintain the establishment as stated in the Constitution and the Conservatives wanting to move away from them. It's almost as if everyone swapped roles. Perhaps, because the founding fathers were Liberals, it was meant to be this way and the roles will be redefined. Perhaps this is just reverse psychology by Bushies.

What does a Liberal say when he finds himself fighting for the establishment?

If by 'thoughts' you mean emotions, I'd say people with liberal feelings are NOT afraid to voice them at all.

The country as a whole is fairly conservative, because anybody that has worked and saved dorsn't want to lose everything that we've worked so hard for, or be forced to give half of it to someone else under some proposed 'just' and 'equitable' program to compel the redistribution of accumulated wealth.

I have heard a lot of liberal feelings expressed, but I am not impressed as to the reasoning behind the feelings. Very little of that has been expressed. It is as if the liberals to whose tv shows and radio stations I have listened are trying to persuade folks through sheer intensity of emotion, much of which is brought in as connotations attached to other things. The majority of this emotionalism may be misplaced.

Tell me if I am mistaken: the central tenet of liberal feeling is this.

"I've explained my position to that conservative over there and he doesn't AGREE...!. Maybe he didn't understand it the first time. I'll try again."

(After explaining again.)

"He STILL doesn't agree! And this time I'm sure he understood! I'm under the impression that the ONLY person who could possibly disagree with me is mentally deficient. And yet he understands! So he must be an unscrupulous cad AS WELL as a heretic!"

(After denouncing the conservative as a cad and a heretic.)

"The NERVE of him, to waste my time like that! This convinces me that he KNOWS exactly how much everything he says and does irritates me, and HE'S DOING IT ON PURPOSE!"

(The liberal goes away feeling sorry for himself and resenting the conservative, planning to attack the next conservative as though the first one really did intend to irritate him, and as though the next one was the same person.)

Am I mistaken?

I for one, am the most liberal person my age in my town. But of course, everyone around me is conservative... i mean, CONSERVATIVE. But i keep voicing my opinions because they are important to me, and i need them to be heard, but you have no idea what type of pressure i get from doing that. people without confidence and strong will would crack in an instant, (not trying to say that i'm an exception, or anything) and so they try to avoid it. I know for a fact that there are people who believe what i do, but they are afraid that they'll undergo that pressure. But when someone becomes a leader, like i have, then they gain confidence. Since i started - mainly the last election - people have been voicing their opinions more. So become the leader!

I think conservatives just hide their personal infractions better/longer because they are in the closet and feel the need to conform.
while those that are not neoconservatives live life as if what they do reflects who they are and what they believe so why hide it.
just my opinion
