Yes it is a hard job, I don't know what the person above is talking about. It is more than just terminology and typing. It is being able to understand what the person is saying. That is one of the hardest parts of the job. Most doctors have some type of accents. Breaking the language barrier can be difficult at times. The medical terminology has a wide range. It goes from knowing medical abbreviations to anatomy to medical procedures and equipment, and medications, know to spell them and their dosages because sometimes you have to decipher between two drugs that sound very similar and you need to know what they are used for and their dosages to be able to figure out which they may be saying (i.e. Xanax and Zantac - One is for anxiety and other for GERD).

Edited to add, there is a high demand for it and companies are always hiring. Hospitals and clinics are similar as far as pay goes, as are companies that allow you to work in the office or at home depending on how national they are. As far as "what to say", I don't advise telling them you have experience or schooling if you don't, because they give you a test before they hire you and will know by your results if you have experience.

I would say to either look for a company that will allow you to train while you work, so that you can get some experience in or take some classes. There are several schools that allow you to take courses online.

It's not that hard as long as you know medical terminology and know how to type!
