I insert a DVD and when I try to run it with a DVD Player that is Windows ME-compatible, it says "Please insert a disc into Drive D" or whatever the drive is. Do I need to install something, or what do I do?

More information is needed...

1. do you have more than 1 CD drive
2. If you do have more than one drive do both show when you open "My Computer" or if you only have one CD drive does it show up when you open "My Computer" you can also do the following....

Right Click on My Computer and click on Properties

Then Click on Hardware, then the button that says Device Manager. Look under the click the + sign next to DVD/CD Roms and see if any devices there have a yellow ? mark or an ! on them. If they do skip to the next step, otherwise scroll to the bottom of the device manager and look for Other Devices and see if any are listed there with a ? or a ! if you find one that looks to be your DVD drive

If you find a device with a yellow ? or ! then double click on it, then click on the tab at the top that says Drivers. then click the button that says "Update Driver" then update it from windows update.

Secondly I reccomend that you get a different OS than Windows ME. For 2 reasons. It doesn't support a lot of hardware, including USB. It also is not technically troubleshooted by Microsoft. Operating Systems have a typical shelf life of 4 to 5 years. yours is past it's prime.

First off Windows ME is Garbage (I had it till XP came out then I dropped it like a bad habit) But if you insists on keeping ME go to Device Manager Push the Windows Key the one with the flag and push the Pause-break key at the same time.Click the Hardware tab and select Device Manager click the + button nest to the DVD drive highlite the DVD player and update the driver. If you don't have the disk then go to the manufacturer Web site and download it
