Try New England. This an area which includes quite a number of different states, so you'd have to narrow it down by searching the web for exchange students out of that area. Upstate New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts all have french towns in them where people speak french as a second language and english as a first. Rents vary depending on how you want to live, but you can expect to pay between 400 and 600 US dollars a month for a one bedroom apartment. If you want luxury, more, if you look for something cheaper, you'll find it. Gas is much less expensive here than in France, it is between 2 and 3 US dollars per gallon (a gallon is a little less than 4 liters).
If you move into a larger city, public transportation is more available. In small towns, the public transport systems aren't very good. If you are only coming for 2 months, you should come in late spring, summer, or early autumn, since the winters can be harsh in New England.
If you want my opinion, you would have more fun in Montreal, Quebec (Canada), and then you could just visit the US by coming over the border, which is about like going from France to Germany these days.

A decade ago to learn English, you had to attend costly English classes or purchase course material like tapes and books. Now you can learn English for free from the comfort of your home using the internet. The BBC and the British Council offer a number of online courses which teach written and spoken English. You can also improve your English by watching television programs and reading English newspapers. For more information, visit http://tinyurl.com/qnzpt
