Because they think that they are not worthy to enter heaven.

Because life is a gift from God and should be treated as such!
And not "everybody" wants to go to heaven; some claim to be certain there is no heaven at all.

Because we weren't created to die. We were created to live with God for ever. Hebrews 9:27 says: It is appointed unto man once to die but after this the judgment. Sin brought death into this world, Christ died to remove the sting of death for those who accept His death as a sacrifice for their sins, and ALSO accept His teachings as the ONLY way to make heaven our home. Jesus said, If ye love me, keep my commandments. We must have His help to do this. People who don't have a personal relationship with the Creator God, are generally afraid because they don't know where they go when they die, but those who love Him with ALL their heart do!

Fear of the unknown? No matter what we've been told or taught, there's only one way to get first hand experience! Also, maybe we're all afraid of the potential of pain that comes with most deaths?
P.S. Maybe we're afraid to die because there aren't any "Law & Order" reruns in Heaven?!!!

Even though they "believe" they are going to some place called heaven, they realize that all this crap was made up thousands of years ago by people who thought the world was flat and disease was caused by demons.

I guess its because some people are afraid that when they die and go to be judged they will be found unworthy and sent to hell. Im not sure that i believe all this but i think it must be a bit like waiting for exam results, things will be great if you make the grade but its pretty crap if you fail.

I really hope there is such a place as heaven because I believe we are all living in hell, I know I have to die one day and when my time comes I have no worries or fears about it, your born so therefore at sometime you have to die too, its part of life.

That's a damn good question. I'm not religious and I don't believe in heaven yet I'm not afraid to die. Maybe people who believe in heaven are afraid to die becuase they don't want to be disapointed when there is no heaven. That's just my opinion!

I don't believe in heaven, but I do understand that one day I will die. I accept this and I am happy!
