has your child tried the bottle of coke and the mintos mints? the coke explodes into a fountain, it's messy but they can explain why and how it happened, it's cheap and easy to work into a project?

Make a homemade ((of course homemade, that's what the science project is all about)) TELEGRAPH machine using a battery and a Christmas light.
Show the Morse code symbols and write a message out for people to try.
Fun fun !

I'm not sure if it's good enough but my best friend won 1st place with it. It's lime and lemon electricity. You'll have to try to make a little lightbulb shine. You will see which one will make the bulb shine the brightest by using this small machine (I'm not sure what it's called) to make the bulb turn on.
