I started my first 3 kids on cereal at around 4 months, but my 4th baby started cereal about 6 weeks ago at 3 12/2 months because he as so hungry all the time! Don't put it in a bottle. Spoon-feed a small very thin (a little thicker than milk) portion once a day and very gradually thicken it up. Expect your baby to reject it the first few times- this is normal- but if he doesn't (my youngest actually loves his cereal!) then it's just that much easier. After 2-3 weeks you cam increase the portion size to as much as your baby wants in one feeding, with a bit of milk/formula afterwards to wash it down.

I started putting cereal in my son's bottle at 3 1/2 months, only a teaspoon or so. He was really large for his age and it helped to fill him a bit better than just milk. He slept through the night without any problems after that. He's now 7 months and no longer needs it, but it sure helped at the time.
Good Luck!

I started adding rice cereal in my daughters bottles when she was 2 1/2 months.I would pour the cereal in an empty can of formula and just use the scooper from that to add it to her bottles.I snipped a bigger hole in the nipples. She was a preemie and once I did this she started sleeping through the night and caught up on the growth charts in no time.Good luck!

I started at 3 weeks old cuz he was fussing all the time. My doctor said that I could put 1-2 tbsn. per bottle to get him more full and to prevent throw up. He also said that if I did not want to put the cereal (rice) in the bottle myself, then I could change his formula to Infimil A.R. LIPIL, which already has the cereal premixed with the formula.
Best of luck.

I put dry cereal in my sons bottle when he was about 3 months old. Milk alone wasnt satisfying him. Some babies are like that. I also gave it to all of my grandkids and they are all very healthy. Dont go by all your doctor and friends tell you, some of us older women know a thing or three. Good luck.

the cereal in the bottle is not a bad thing. AS DIRECTED BY A DR only though. My 2 sons were directed by thier pediatrican at age 1 week because of feeding issues..
only use rice ceral its less likely to cause an allergic reaction.
Only do it if your childs dr says its okay....
if yours has reflux, or fussy all the time.. this is the answer...

I started trying at 4 months but my son would never take them. I tried spoon feeding it to him and he would scream and push it away and I tried giving it to him in a bottle and he would take one sip and throw the bottle. At about 5 months I gave up on cereals and went straight to fruits and veggies and he LOVED them
