I work for the local news paper and my boss is expecting me to pitch her my ideas for a Christmas supplement on Monday. I don't have many ideas. So far all I have is a contest for people to create their own Christmas carols, and submitting local recipes. It's supposed to be a little booklet with many different things in it. Any ideas out there? I need something creative. Thank you.

I have over a million ideas on this one - I used to have a business called "P.S. Happy Holidays" - running a craft booth at community craft fairs. ** Start with a calendar of local events for Christmas season. **

Visit Christmas related websites for further inspiration. Copy some of their ideas and take off from there -
coloring page for kids,
recipes for Moms,
gifts from the kitchen
party ideas
shopping lists for Dads,
stocking stuffer items at local stores,
decorating for the season (approach local home improvement stores - maybe they'll be having workshops)
opportunities for community service (talk to your community section editor),
planning for the Christmas wedding season (see your Society editor),
coping with seasonal depressions & bereavement, (see your Obit editor),
Holiday Travel specials & helpful hints(see your Travel editor),
Sports schedule for the holiday week (see your Sports editor),

P.S. - Happy Holidays!

How about a section on how to create family traditions or memories.

A be kind to your neighbor section that outlines small things that make a big impact in the lives of your elderly neighbors.
