My big sis said it was smelly and itchy but I wanted a second opinion.

Your big sis was right and some people have a bad skin reaction to it as well.

It works, but at a cost. Try is on your upper thigh in a small area 1st, to make sure you don't have a reaction. That way, if you do, you can cover it up until it heals.

Does Nair Really Work

2016-10-01 06:23:09 · answer #2 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

I'm an esthetician. I never recommend chemical hair removal for two reasons: 1) the reactivity factor is very high. These removal systems contain highly irritating ingredients for a lot of folks; and 2) Nair works by chemically melting the hair shaft, and making the hair fall out. Waxing is a better option. Done often enough, it removes hair in all cycles of growth, thus weakening and eventually killing the papillary bulb, which attaches the hair to the follicle. Once the hair has died, the follicle collapses, and voila! No more hair. I have seen clients come in who have very sparse hair from waxing over a period of time, and they have minimal regrowth. Don't do Nair.

Yeah it works, but it smells gross. They make Nair now with a "scent"- cucumber melon, vanilla, etc. Skin smells like that somewhat after you've washed the nair off, but while it's on it smells like eggs. It's also not as easy as they make it out to be, depending on how much hair is being removed and how coarse/thick it is. Shaving can be a pain but I think it's the best solution if you don't want pain or smell-bad-ness.

I use Nair all the time. It does have a smell to it, even the new ones out claiming to have a "fresh smell" to it. What I do is, use Nair at night..like just before bed. Then the next day i can take a shower and come out all nice and smooth and with a fresh lovely just of shower smell to me!..

Nair only removes hair at the surface of the skin, so it has the same effect as shaving. The only difference is that a lot of people are allergic to nair and can break out in rashes.

I use Veet instead of Nair it doesn't smell so bad. The one with the Raseara is really good, Its a bladeless razor for removing the cream. Also I find that if you use it all the time and don;t shave you have less hair and have to do it less often. I only do my legs bout once every 7-10 days!!!

I don't care for Nair at all. But if you insist on using a cream depilatory, try Veet. It smells a lot better & comes with a plastic "razor" for a closer shave.

Nair works for some people... didn't for me though.

My skin was BURNING by the time it was done and... absolutely irritated. It dried my legs out incredibly bad and... I ended up going through more trouble just getting my skin back to it's hydrated condition than it would have taken to just shave or wax.

You can try Nad's, but I heard it only works if the hair is REALLY long and... errrrr that sounds gross LOL

Best of luck!

I have used nair one time and it smelled horrible, burned like fire, and made my legs break out in a rash. I wouldn't recommend using it if you have sensitive skin. I've also tried the veet mousse, but I had a similar reaction to it. To keep my legs smooth I shave with hair conditioner and I use a shave minimizing lotion. If you use it often, it really does help.
