i have a 1985 jeep cherokee that's in like new condishion. and a 90 jeep rust bucket i want put the motor from the 90 in to the 85.

As long as the engines are the same size it should work. If it is a 4.0 litre or a V8 either one should swap but your engine control systems may be different so you may have to change some of the wiring harneses as well.

Same motor? Or different? If different you may have some problems with fitment of mounts and so forth. But if you ahve a total donor vehcile to get what you want from it should work.

If they're the same engine then you replace the "long block" and reuse the accessories from the current vehicle.

85 Cherokees had GM V6 motors as I recall. However if you have the motor mounts and transmission from the 90 then it will be a pretty easy conversion.
